Under the liver, in a little pouch-like organ, is the gallbladder. The liver creates a fluid called bile to aid in the breakdown of lipids. Bile is kept in the gallbladder where it accumulates over time and becomes more concentrated, improving its ability to break down lipids. When necessary, the gallbladder discharges bile into the digestive system.
